As if I didn’t have enough reasons to love Larry David, Season Six of Curb Your Enthusiasm (now available on DVD), reveals that he’s a fan of both Lost and The Amazing Race. His love of Lost actually helps ruin his marriage, which I can understand. And let’s face it; giving an African-American family the last name of ‘Black’ has to be the work of a man who still remembers the glorious awkwardness of The Amazing Race: Family Edition.
‘Glorious awkwardness’ is a pretty good summation of Curb. For the uninitiated, Larry David (co-creator of Seinfeld) plays himself, as he manages to offend and alienate everybody around him. Whether he’s being actively spiteful or actually trying to help somebody, it’s virtually guaranteed to go wrong. And with the twisty plotting that characterized the best Seinfeld episodes, there’s usually a great payoff combining any number of unconnected plotlines.
