In honor of our favorite comedy, Parks and Recreation, we picked out our favorite episodes from each season and then put together some thoughts on the finale because if there’s one thing we love, it’s talking about Parks and Rec. Get ready to relive the magic!
MYNDI: “The Reporter” – It was sort of slim picking here, but this one introduced us to Shauna Malwae-Tweep (“She writes for the Pawnee Journal, which is like our town’s Washington Post.”) Leslie telling everyone how to deal with the press was an early glimpse of her controlling nature and Ann still wasn’t sure how she felt about local government. This episode also marks the introduction of JJ’s Diner and its amazing waffles as well as Pawnee’s upsetting City Hall murals that became a running joke for the show’s duration.
EJ: “Rock Show” – To me, the first season finale really stands out as a sign of things to come. It’s the episode where Andy get his cast off (And how crazy is it, now that we know what an amazing physical comedian Chris Pratt is, that he spend the first season confined to a body cast?), breaks up with Ann, and performs with MouseRat. “The Pit” is no “5,000 Candles in the Wind”, but it’s still pretty good. There’s some nice character development here including the introduction of and explanation for Tom’s wife. And the closing scene with Leslie and Mark together in the pit is nicely done. There are some solid laughs along the way – they close out the short season on a high note.
