And lastly, Jimmy Iovine picked “We’ve Got Tonight” which almost made me rank him ahead of Jessica for the night. Now, I’m not predicting he’ll go home or won’t win because as the last four weeks have proven, I don’t know what the hell I’m talking about. However, I liked this song for him. Bob Seger isn’t often covered, for some reason. Maybe it’s because Seger’s smokey voice is so, so, so unique and he writes his songs to fit his voice, most artists just sorta realize it would suck if it was remade. Maybe. Well, if someone was going to cover Seger, Phillip Phillips was the right guy. I agree with Randy …the perfect song and the perfect time. He needed a moment, and this was a moment. Still, overall, I liked his three songs the least, though I liked his “We’ve Got Tonight” second most of any song of the night.
