Hope Solo & Maksim Chmerkovskiy–(20/30) The DWTS troupe girls stopped by and taught her to be sexy this week, but the lessons didn’t stick. The rumba to “Seasons of Love” from Rent was terrible. Just…bad. Carrie Ann says she saw moments of sexiness, but it goes against Hope’s personality and seemed forced. She also says she has more to work on with her shoulders. Len says he never lost faith in her, but it was her worst dance of the whole season. Len points out her flat lace up booties causing her to take heel leads. He gets a huge chorus of boos, which Maks encourages, and Len gets on his case. Maks talks back and Len points out that he’s been at this for almost 50 years. Mak’s completely disrespectful reply: “Maybe it’s time to get out”, complete with giggle. Look, I love Maks despite my awareness that he’s more than likely a pompous toolbag, but even I found the whole exchange beyond awkward and uncalled for. When even Tom has no words, you know things are tense. Brooke gave him a softball question to redeem himself, and he opted to dig a deeper hole, saying it’s his show and he made it…yeah, you’re not helping yourself or your partner, Maks. Unless that’s what you want.
