After everyone went to help a community group (kids, families, disabled) and learn something special, they got to sing yet another tune! The Backbeats took on Katy Perry’s “Firework” and did more of what they did this whole time…tried so hard to make this pop confection seem so earnest. Some people found it charming, I found it annoying.
Committed sang “Hold My Hand” a duet by Michael Jackson and Akon. Their abilities took this lesser known song to new heights. With just six of them, it’s incredible. Jerry Lawson & Talk of the Town busted out “Love Train”, which was a nice send off, but by then you could see them running out of steam. Jerry was using a cane all night, and it wasn’t just for show. Street Corner Symphony did a stirring rendition of “Fix You” by Coldplay, which expanded to include everyone before it was over. It was a very cool, moving performance.
