Hey …did ya miss me? I’m really sorry I missed that last two weeks, but because of a bloggers union agreement, a show actually needs to have viewers to be reviewed and recapped every week. The Sing-Off doesn’t meet the minimum viewer threshold, so I had to outsource the recaps to China.
But, I’m back, the union bylaws were re-written, and as long as I can prove I have more readers than the show has viewers (or if the show has more contestants than viewers), it can be recapped on pop-culture blogs and websites.
Last night was hip-hop night. Yes, The Sing-Off is still an acappella singing competition – I don’t know who came up with that idea. I’m guessing producers are grasping at straws, and I’m guessing the producers are my aunts and my old elementary school teachers and they sit around saying things like, “well, the kids these days really like that rapping music and those M & Ms, maybe we should do a rapping show.” And then the 25-year-old intern says, hesitantly, “um, it’s ‘hip-hop’,” and all my aunts and my old elementary school teachers say, “oh, thanks. Hippity-hop. Let’s do that.” And there you go.
