Also back are Ben Folds One and his never combed hair, that-guy from Boyz II Men (aka Shawn Stockman), and now Sara Bareilles (can I call her “Sara B” because her last-name is difficult to type?) as the third judge, replacing that Pussycat Doll-chick.

This season is being trumpeted as “bigger and better than ever” which turns out to mean only that they’ve added 8 more singing groups. Past seasons featured 8 groups. This season we’ll have 16 groups. 8 performed last night and 2 were sent home. 8 new groups will perform next week and, I assume, two more will be sent home. And so on, and so on. The season is really going to drag on and on and if you like a certain group, for now, you’ll have to wait two weeks to see them again. But it works for NBC’s summer hit America’s Got Talent, so why not? It’s not like NBC has anything else going on.

One Response to The Sing-Off, Season 3, Premiere: It’s Twice as Big (Half as Watched))

  1. Myndi says:

Yeah, Delilah was awesome, and adorable to boot. I liked both of the college groups that performed, although I could have done without the whole “Mormons can still date! And also kiss!” pre-roll package.

And, FYI, Chuck was NOT cancelled, rather it was moved to Friday for a fifth and pre-determined final season.
