Hi all!

So, I’m opening this week with a quick bit of news. Which is to say, I’m taking a break from doing a weekly schedule for a while. There are several reasons for this. The first is that, honestly, nobody really cares. The second is that we’ve had a light TV schedule for a while and that’s coinciding with a period of me trying to figure out what it is that I should be doing with my time, and that’s combined to make me need to step back for a bit. Maybe a couple of weeks, maybe longer. I don’t know. But I’ve used all my jokes and probably you need a break from me, too. I’ll still have Spunkybean content coming, but the schedule needs to rest for a bit.

So for the last time for the foreseeable future, here’s what to watch on TV this week!

Oh, there’s nothing on. HBO is premiering The Two Popes, which is a follow-up to The Young Pope, but I’ve been burned out once already.

9-10 Gordon Ramsay’s 24 Hours to Hell and Back – This week, they go to New Jersey for a restaurant where the owner doesn’t trust his staff. I assume that means he’s too hands on and doesn’t like to give up control, but I would like to think he’s afraid they’re stealing from him. Like old man in a nursing home paranoia.

8-9 The CW Dog Honors – This show honors talented dogs. Yes, specifically talented. Hero dogs, take it to another show! You’ve gotta have an act if you want to get honored tonight!

8-9 Flirty Dancing – This show is dumb and seems like it might be fake, but I will watch it forever.

10-11 Stumptown – Dex tries to help a fellow vet find his birth parents. I really like when they dig into her military past. I don’t have anything funny to say.

8:30-9 The Good PlaceMichael runs some tests and Chidi gets some good advice. Still keeping it vague for my Season Three friends!

10-11 Evil – Benry helps a serial killer get his conviction overturned. That’s right, it’s been almost ten years and he’ll still always be Benry to me!

12-12:30 Joe Pera Talks To You – This week, Joe Pera Has a Surprise For You and Joe Pera Helps You Write. I am delighted by both of these premises and I could use the writing tips. Dear Joe Pera, how do you write a weekly TV schedule for more than twelve years and still do a good job? You can’t? Well, that’s a load off my mind!

8-9:10 Doctor Who – No information available, but the title is “Nikolai Tesla’s Night of Terror”, so you know it’s going to be good.

9-10 The Outsider – The first two episodes haven’t aired as I write this, so I can’t make any sense of this week’s listing. I guess we’ll figure it out together.

10-10:30 Avenue 5 – SERIES PREMIERE! The creator of Veep and The Thick of It returns with this sci-fi comedy about a luxury spacecraft. Sci-Fi seems like a weird swerve for him, but it looks pretty good and it stars Hugh Laurie, so I’m in.

10:30-11:10 Curb Your Enthusiasm – SEASON PREMIERE! No information available, but you know the drill. You either want to see Larry David do his thing or you don’t. And brother, I do.

“If I run away today, good people will die. If I stand and fight, some of them might live. Maybe not many, maybe not for long. Hey, maybe there’s no point in any of this at all, but it’s the best I can do. So I’m going to do it, and I will stand here until it kills me. You’re going to die too, someday. When will that be? Have you thought about it? What would you die for?…. Stand with me. These people are terrified. Maybe we can help a little. Why not, just at the end, just be kind?” — The Doctor

“And until we meet again, boys and girls, know that wherever evil lurks in all its myriad forms, I’ll be there with the Hammers of Justice to fight for decency and defend the innocent. Good night.” — Batman

Thank you very much – that means a lot! I promise they’ll be back soon – if you follow me on Twitter (@ejfeddes), you’ll be the first to know once I get back in the schedule game.
